Virtuoso in the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Westbrook Village is making history as the first market condo project built with mass timber. The project, by Adera Development Corporation, recently marked a major milestone with the installation of its final mass timber panel.

As Adera’s 10th building in UBC, Virtuoso is a unique project built with luxury wood construction in the form of cross-laminated timber panels. The modern West Coast building has a total of 106 units, ranging in size from 830 square feet to 1,607 square feet. Virtuoso embraces its natural landscape with a central zen garden and up to 850 square feet of private outdoor space, with expansive rooftop lanais that offer stunning views of Pacific Spirit Regional Park.

Adera’s passion for sustainability and excellence in architectural quality was recently recognized at the Canadian Home Builder’s Association 2017 National Awards for Housing Excellence. The Vancouver-based developer won the Design Excellence Award for the best builder in the new home category.

Using mass timber at Virtuoso gives the project an eco-friendly advantage. The wood panels are a renewable building resource, providing fire resistance and outperforming concrete in seismic conditions. Luxury wood construction also mitigates sounds between attached homes, aligning with Adera’s Quiet Home technology initiative.

Virtuoso is over 88 per cent sold and units start from $849,900. Interested buyers are encouraged to visit Virtuoso’s sales centre at 118-6033 Gray Avenue in Vancouver, open daily from noon to 5pm.
